This will be the last email you get that says “This Is The Way” as the Sender. That’s because, after much reflection and thinking about the future, we decided it’s time for a rebrand that unifies all of what we’re doing here. The Newsletter, YouTube channel, Podcast, Social Media, and Brand itself are now unified under one name: Geeky Stoics.
We even got the domain, so in a few days, everything will live under geekystoics.com. This was set up and ready to go but we ran into some technical difficulties that will soon be resolved. Patience is a virtue and all.
What does that mean for Subscribers? Nothing at all. The mission is the same: to find lessons on living in great movies, TV shows, and books that you can apply to daily life. Whether it be Star Wars (our favorite) or Lord of the Rings, Marvel, or Batman, Geeky Stoics will be in your inbox at least once per week with a piece of pop culture wisdom.
For podcasts,
does audio voiceovers for articles, which are available in any podcast app you prefer. Just search Geeky Stoics. is hard at work editing videos and turning what we do here into video essays for YouTube. In fact, here is a new video!
This is Stephen’s talk he gave at NC Comicon Durham earlier this month. We recorded the whole thing and edited it together for your enjoyment. The talk was inspired by chapter II of Stephen’s book, How The Force Can Fix The World, about how empathy for bad guys is risky (dangerous even) but it’s necessary for living in a free-democratic society.
If you want to go behind the scenes of preparation for giving this “TED Talk” at Comicon, this video below follows Stephen and Riley through the journey to NC Comicon and prep for the presentation.
We can’t thank you enough for being part of Geeky Stoics. This is still “the way” and we’re excited to be working on this brand in the year ahead.
Oh, and we have one more thing for you.
Several subscribers to Geeky Stoics on Substack and YouTube have asked about the Philosopher Yoda bust I keep on my shelf. Well, now you can have one yourself. We’re creating a line a Star Wars Stoic bronze busts, made of crisp 3D printed material that are ready just in time for Christmas shopping. You can grab one at our new e-store.
Love the name! Congrats!
Your laugh at the end of the 'First Step Into a Larger World' video got me chuckling too.
