Really interesting discussion, glad to have heard Eric as well as read the book. There's still a lot to agree with and take away as an atheist as well as a religious person. Agreed that there are many things that are natural or socially beneficial that are then twisted and can be used for evil, marriage and childbearing being the obvious ones where women in particular can be coerced or forced within a religious, cultural, or societal context.
I may be putting my own spin on this: maybe around the obvious domestic abuse (coercive control, physical violence) in the Anakin/ Padme relationship, and maybe others - Jacen/ Tenel Ka (child abduction), Isolder/ Teneniel Djo (folks, read 'The New Jedi Order: Dark Journey' because it's excellent) and arguably Rey/ Kylo?

glad you enjoyed it! been thinking about the corruption of goods thing lately, trying to test whether or not there are exceptions

Yeah you could argue that. The similarities are hard to ignore
