Your daughter will benefit from being loved, accepted, guided, and disciplined as she is, rather than a version of herself that she’ll never go back to or never could be. It’s wonderful that you and your wife are aware of this in your parenting. I’m really hoping our generation of parents do the best job they can with the little person they have, rather than what a lot of us got, which was, “No, you have to be this” and nothing but frustration when we failed to “be this”.
